About the Painting

Inspired by images of the Isle of Arran, Goat Fells rugged mountain peaks were created by the Highland fault; granite remains of a tertiary volcano 65 million years ago.

The outlined image is enhanced to show the legendary warrior and giant Fingal, he was also known to sit at Machrie moor standing stones which date back to the Neolithic period, the man with his spear also belongs to this era; he is watching in awe as the river-bed opens with the impression of mother nature emerging gracefully, the water fall creates her hair and images of the Jurassic period are in the fossils around the falls.

The Coelacanth fish pronounced see-la-kanth once thought to be extinct pre-dating the dinosaurs, is a 400 million year old “living fossil” with proto legs, they are still here to this day and have been found in every continent except Antarctica.

The bold border comes from an Yves Saint Laurent’s 1965 cocktail dress inspired by a painting by Mondrian. This gives an abstract mix with landscape and can be painted to specification for commissions.

This painting is also experimental of putting images together to reflect thoughts and meaning of periods of existence which all work together as a whole to create an extraordinary landscape through the ages. To look and appreciate the detail and balance of contrasting colours.
